What a rebrand costs — real numbers, fixed packages.
A professional startup rebrand with an independent senior designer typically costs $6,000–25,000; agencies charge several times that. My packages are fixed-price: $6,500 for an identity refresh, $15,000 for a full rebrand, and $24,000 for a rebrand including a new website. No day rates, no scope surprises — you know the number before we start.
For startups whose brand is 80% right but visibly aging. Logo refinement, color and typography system, core templates, and compact guidelines.
The complete engagement: positioning workshop, naming support if needed, full identity system (logo, color, type, voice, imagery, components), brand guidelines, and a rollout kit — deck, social, stationery.
Everything in Full Rebrand, plus I design and build your new site (Next.js, fast, SEO/AIO-ready). One person, zero translation loss between brand and product.
Every package: fixed price, defined deliverables, and you own all rights to the work.
Is $15,000 a reasonable rebranding budget?
Yes — for a funded startup it's the realistic middle of the market when working with an experienced independent designer. Below ~$5k you get logo marketplaces and lotteries, not strategy. Agency engagements for comparable scope commonly start at several times this number because you're also paying for account management and overhead. $10–20k with a senior independent buys the same hands that would do the work inside the agency — without the layers.
Agency or freelancer — which is right for you?
Choose an agency if you need a large team across many workstreams simultaneously (brand + campaign + motion + PR) or your board requires a big-name logo on the invoice. Choose an experienced independent if you want senior work, direct communication, faster decisions and a fixed price. Most startup rebrands are a 1-person + founder job at heart: positioning conversations and a designer who can execute.
What a $10–20k package must include
- Strategy and positioning before design
- Design territories — real alternatives, not variations
- A complete system, not just a logo
- Guidelines your team can actually use
- Source files and full rights
- A defined revision process
If a quote at this level is missing strategy or guidelines, you're buying decoration, not a brand.
FAQ
How long does a rebrand take?
Refresh: 2–3 weeks. Full rebrand: 4–6 weeks. With website: 6–9 weeks. The constraint is usually decision speed on the client side, not design time.
What do you need from me?
A founder (or decision-maker) for two workshops, honest answers about customers and competitors, and fast feedback windows. That's it — I handle the rest.
Do we lose brand recognition if we rebrand?
A good rebrand keeps what earned recognition and replaces what's holding you back. The strategy phase identifies exactly which is which before anything is redesigned.
Can you also do just a logo?
The Identity Refresh is the smallest engagement I take. A logo without a system and guidelines creates the inconsistency you're trying to escape.
Do you work remotely?
Yes — based in Hamburg, working with startups worldwide, in English and German.
What happens after launch?
You leave with source files, full rights and guidelines your team can run with, so the brand stays consistent without me in the loop. If you'd like ongoing design support after launch, tell me during the project and we'll scope it.
Tell me about your rebrand
A short note about your product and where it's heading is enough to start. I'll reply with an honest read on scope, timeline and which package fits.
